So, Supporting Parents in Business, what’s it all about?

The answer has to be, our children.

I’m Susan, mother to three young boys, Charlie, Felix and Oscar. I know as well as any one how important our children are; they are, after all, our future generation and they deserve the absolute best we can give them. But, must this be at a detriment to the jobs we love or the careers we crave?

This is something I have struggled with since I have had my children, and for a long time found the only way to achieve a reasonable work/life balance was to work as a freelance writer, snatching work when I could and working whilst the children slept. For a time this was the perfect solution for our growing family’s needs.

Then I found a job that seemed too good to be true. I am now employed in a full-time position, working from home, which allows me to be there when my children need me. And my employer has found someone who would never have been able to return to work full-time in an office!

Some days my house is quiet, with just the tapping of the keyboard keeping me company. At other times the boys are creating chaos while I finish off an urgent article. But, do you know what? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

At times it is hard; I’ve had two of my children in hospital since I started working at WinWeb! But Supporting Parents in Business believe that every parent should have the opportunity to work.

Over the coming months we’ll be organising events and launching campaigns to help parents who wish to return to the workplace and for those already juggling a career and family life.

And here in our blog you can read the diary of a very busy, sometimes flustered, but happy mum-of-three, who works as a Marketing Manager and in snatched moments of insanity has been known to run a half-marathon.
